That is the part most people miss when they search for the Notion AI price. There is no longer a cheap AI add-on you bolt onto the plan you already have. For a new customer, "buying Notion AI" means moving the whole workspace to Business, and because Notion charges per member, that decision gets multiplied by every seat. Below are the plans, what AI you actually get on each, what it costs a solo user versus a team, and when it is worth paying for.

The feature split below comes from Notion's own pricing page. Notion shows prices in your local currency, so the dollar figures are the US list prices reported for 2026. Yearly billing is up to 20% cheaper than monthly.

Two extras sit on top of the plan price. Custom Agents, the automations that run on their own, are free to try and then use Notion credits at $10 per 1,000 credits a month. Research mode is still listed as a limited trial even on Business. Neither is required for everyday AI use, but both are worth knowing about before you tell a finance team the number is "$20 a seat".
How much does Notion AI cost?
For most buyers, Notion AI costs $20 per member per month, because that is the price of the Business plan, the cheapest plan with full AI. Billed monthly it is $24. There is no standalone AI subscription for new customers, and the Free and Plus plans include only a trial with a limited number of AI responses.
Put in yearly terms, that is $240 per person per year on annual billing, or $288 if you pay month to month. Compared with Plus, the AI step costs you an extra $10 per member per month. You also get the other Business features for that money, such as SAML single sign-on and private teamspaces, which matters if your company needs them and is dead weight if it does not.
What happened to the Notion AI add-on?
Notion used to sell AI as a separate add-on, charged per member at roughly $8 a month billed yearly or $10 billed monthly, on top of any plan including Free. In 2025 Notion folded AI into the Business and Enterprise plans instead. New customers now get full AI by upgrading to Business rather than buying an add-on, while Free and Plus keep a trial.
If you are an older subscriber who still sees the add-on on your bill, check your workspace billing settings before you change plans. Moving plans can remove a legacy arrangement you cannot get back.
What Notion AI costs for one person versus a team
Because pricing is per member, the same feature has very different price tags depending on who you are. These numbers use the yearly rates.

For a team that already runs its wiki, projects and meeting notes in Notion, $20 a seat can be a fair deal: the AI reads the workspace everyone already uses, and AI Meeting Notes alone replaces a separate transcription subscription for many teams. The math is weaker for a solo user who mainly wants AI answers and would be paying for team administration they never touch.
Is Notion AI worth it?
Notion AI is worth it when your knowledge already lives in Notion. It answers questions from your pages and databases, drafts inside the documents you are editing, fills database properties and, on Business, searches connected apps like Slack and Google Drive. If your team's work happens in Notion, the AI has good material to work with and the upgrade pays for itself quickly.
It is a harder sell in three situations:
- Your knowledge is in files, not pages. If the things you need answers from are PDFs, client reports, contracts and spreadsheets sitting in folders, moving them into Notion first is a project in itself. An AI that answers from uploaded documents directly skips that step.
- You work alone. Much of what makes Business worth $20 is built for teams: permissions, SSO, shared teamspaces. A single person pays for all of it to get the AI.
- You only want answers, not a workspace. If you are not going to rebuild your notes system, you are buying a large tool for one feature.
Some teams also find that what they really wanted from the AI upgrade was a way to get new hires up to speed on the documentation, and that a proper corporate training and onboarding platform does that job better than a chat box over the wiki.
